Legality of Commercial Droning
Announced on June 21, 2016 and coming into effect in August 2016, the FAA has officially announced it's new regulations for small drones, as specified in The Small Unmanned Aircraft Rule (Part 107). This rule limits the unmanned aircraft weighing less than 55 lbs to daylight (or civil twilight) flight, assuming appropriate anti-collision lighting is used. According to the FAA, the drone must also fly within the pilot's line of sight at a maximum altitude of 400 feet (If the drone is flown higher than 400 feet, it must remain within 400 feet of a structure).
The rule also requires that the pilot be over 13 years of age and hold a remote pilot airman certificate with a small UAS rating or be under direct supervision of someone who holds the certificate.
District Drone pilot Joshua Young received his remote pilot airman certificate by passing the Unmanned Aircraft General (UAG) Exam on 10/25/2016 and is legally certified to fly and shoot photos/videos commercially.

Other Things to Consider

Location: District Drones fully complies with all Fly-Zone restrictions managed by the FAA. We will need to investigate the location of the event before agreeing to shoot photos/videos.

Flight Time: The typical flight time for the DJI Phantom 3 Pro is 26 minutes. We have multiple batteries to shoot all-day events, but we cannot shoot a continuous video for more than 20 minutes straight.
